About me
My name is Annika Schiefner.
I am a sign language linguist at the University of Cologne. Previously, I worked as a Postdoc at SignLab of the University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands. I hold a PhD from the University of Cologne (UzK), Germany. My background is in psycholinguistics and I started focusing on sign languages during my research master’s at Radboud University, Nijmegen, the Netherlands.
My research interests include:
- sign languages,
- language learning (particularly of sign languages),
- gestures,
- iconicity,
- language acquisition and learning,
- cross-linguistic and cross-modal comparisons,
- and all things quantitative methods and statistics.
